Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What Health forms do I have to fill out to help at a day/twilight camp?

A: All participants need to fill out the form available on this site.  It is tailored to meet the Boy Scouts of America Camp Accreditation codes and the Texas Dept. of Health Codes for Youth Camps.  healthhistory.pdf

Q:  I am 45 years old.  Do I have to fill out a class three medical form?

A.  No, see the answer above.  If you already have a class 3 medical health history form you may submit a copy of that, just make sure that you include the month and year of your last tetanus booster.

Q: My son is 14 years old.  Can he help at camp.

A.  With the support of their scoutmaster, crew leader, varsity coach or ship leader, the camp director may approve a boy or girl  that is 14 years old to serve as "counselors in training."  They will work closely with another staff member and they will count as a youth in our youth to adult ratio.

Q:  My pack says that we don't have enough volunteers, do we have to send so many parents to help?

A.  Day/Twilight Camp is run solely by volunteers.  As with all other Cub Scout Activities we need to maintain the correct Youth Protection Guideline numbers.

Q: It says the the camp volunteer/staff training is mandatory.  Why do I have to attend this training?

A. Because BSA and the State of Texas require that all Volunteers and Staff be trained over camp procedures (including discipline, first aid, emergency drills and lost child protocol)

Q: How many days to I have to volunteer to get a free shirt?

A. You must work 3 of the 5 days to get a free shirt, if you are sharing a spot with another adult please split the cost of the extra shirt with them  ($10), and make sure that your pack registrar knows what you are doing.

Q:  Do all adults have to pay the $10 BSA membership fee with their form?

A.  Every volunteer for camp whether they are there for 1 day or 5 days must fill out a BSA application. It is the form every leader, like den leader, cubmaster, etc. have to fill out. That form is normally $10.00, and it is good for one year. We are waiving that $10.00 fee for all our camp volunteers. But the BSA form that they fill out will only be good for the month of June. After camp, that BSA form is void. If someone is wanting it to be good for the year they will need to pay a fee. I recommend in this situation, tell them to wait until the fall to fill out the form again and have the pack pay for the $10.00. Some packs pay for it, and some do not.

Q:  How does the volunteer thig woork with Tiger parents that only want to be their child's partner?

A.  Parents of tigers do not pay anything and their t-shirt is free. We are just happy to have them helping out with their tiger. But if two parents are splitting the time to be with their tiger.......one parent must pay for an extra t-shirt if they are only there 1-2 days.

Q:  IS there a discount for families with more than one scout attending camp.

A. There is no discount for having more than one scout going to camp. Siblings that are not scouts are charged only $15.00, as long as the parent is helping at camp.
